Brief
To update an existing patio area and to extend the design to encompass the whole garden. To freshen up the planting and to provide screening from the new development behind.
Design Rational
A garden broken up into simple zones of patio, lawn and storage, with planting and timber screening to help provide that much needed privacy.
Results
A simple and functional garden that now continues on beyond the existing sandstone patio. A raised planter containing mahogany barked cherries helps to screen the storage shed and the new development beyond the garden, while southern pine screens above the existing stock brick walls help to add privacy around the existing patio.
Extra seating is added around the new lawn area to provide a casual retreat under the new cherry trees.
The white rendered planters around the garden help to accentuate the enclosure yet still provide lightness, while the planting helps to add that much needed to colour to the garden all year round.
